Protecting Your Wedding Photographs

Wedding photography is one of the biggest of all wedding expenses. Thephotos are able to tell the story of your wedding beautifully fordecades to come. You want to make sure you do everything you can topreserve one of the most important remembrance of your wedding day. Youcan take several steps to protect your wedding photos.

Wedding PhotosDigital photography is the most inexpensive way to prevent loss due todisaster. Once your photos are in digital form, you can easilyduplicate them. The digital technology allows for quick backup andrestore of your images. It is a technology that is becoming almostinseparable from traditional photography. Burning CDs and DVDs of yourimages has become quite common, and it should be part of thephotography service. If your photographer does not offer digitalcopies, you should walk.

The paper and ink used are of outmost importance. What your photographswill look like decades after you get married greatly depends on thequality of the paper and ink. Ask to see what kind of guarantees thepaper manufacturer provides. Ask your photographer to compare differentkind of photo papers available on the market.

Wedding AlbumsYour photo album should contain no acids. That includes the glue, paper, and any other material that is part of the photo album. You cancontact the manufacturer of the album to make sure. Acids can causediscoloration over time.

Photo albums should be laid flat on their backs. Standing photo albumscan more easily bend. Make sure the wedding album comes with guaranteesyou read and understand.

High temperatures and humidity are among the worst enemies of a photoalbum. Most areas you would feel comfortable for extended periods areproper storage locations for your photo album. A hot attic during thesummer or a cold and wet garage are great examples of bad storageplaces.

You have planned your wedding for a long time, and you have spent a lot of money on your photographs. Protect your investment!

Wedding Webcasts for Distant Guests

Wedding Webcast PhotographyIt may be the most revolutionary concept in nuptials since the invention of the maternity wedding gown, according to D.L. Stewart at the Dayton Daily News.

Then again, to a generation accustomed to working at home in itspajamas, sending party invitations online, conducting cyberspaceromances and blogging its blather all over the world, Webcast weddingsprobably were inevitable.

Brides and grooms having their weddings streamed over the Internetis not really a new concept. The practice is older than this century;the first Webcam wedding on record took place in Australia in 1999. TheWise County Circuit Court in Virginia has been offering the servicesince 2000 and calls itself the first Webcast wedding site in thenation. But as weddingbee.com reports, "many wedding-videographycompanies are now offering live Webcasts, so anyone in the world can be'at your wedding.' "

Compared with the average cost of an average wedding, in whichpeople actually show up and drink your booze — currently around $25,000— the $400-$750 cost of a Web wedding is a bargain. And it's theperfect solution for the best man who has football tickets for a gamethat starts half an hour before the ceremony, the mother of the groomwho has nothing decent to wear for walking down the aisle and thefather of the bride, who really would love to be there, but is serving15 to 20 for stock fraud.

The way things are going, eventually no one will have to be at thewedding — including the bride and groom — and the whole thing will beconducted with a conference call. Until then, I predict Webcastweddings will become increasingly popular. Especially when brides andgrooms grasp the ultimate beauty of an event that people can watchwhile they sit at home in their pajamas.

If guests don't have to spend all that money on transportation, lodging and other expenses, they can afford a more expensive weddingpresent.

Next year is not considered a good year for marriages

In modern Chinese culture, it is common practice for acouple to spend an entire day prior to the wedding itself having theirpicture taken.

At this salon, it is currently necessary to book yourphoto shoot half a year in advance, with some couples even bookingbefore they have set a wedding date, according to deputy generalmanager, Qiu Yujuan.

"What we are doing to accommodate the current weddingboom is offering a range of new themes including our most popular,Queen Katherine - where the couple have their photos taken in periodcostume against an ancient royal background."

Others have themselves superimposed on false backgrounds to make it look as though they have visited faraway shores.

Camera Gear for Skydiving Wedding Video

Jumping out of a plane to exchange wedding vows is quite an achievement. But filming it is even more challenging. For the Bates' wedding skydive Sony HD video cameras were used.

The camera complement for the Bates wedding. Note the three Bonehead camera helmets with their optical sights and wiring for in-air, one finger camera control.

I tell you this couple have more guts than me. Notice the red tape inside the fuselage where the mics were taped for the interior shoot. Audio was certainly difficult as the door was open for the flight and the winds were very noisy. Three mics were used, but not wireless mics because of FAA issues.

Wedding Video at 13,500 Feet and 120 Miles Per Hour

Anyone that's been close to a wedding would know that it can be a highly strung event for some. Especially as a wedding photographer or videographer. They have to stay on time an ddeal with sometimes demanding brides or mother-in-laws.

So imagine producing that "same wedding video at 13,500 feet, moving at aspeed of at least 120 miles per hour or faster. With no opportunity torehearse, as it's a one-shot deal. Noisy airplane, seven cameramen, aterrified justice of the peace, a best man, maid of honor, FAAregulations, extremely cold weather at altitude and extremely hotweather on the ground, all conspire to make this an even greaterchallenge", reports The Spotted Eagle at www.dmnforums.com and www.vasst.com.

wedding video skydive

"When the TLC Channel's "Wild Weddings" team heard that we were shootingthis as a project for some friends, they invited us to add a camera or two to the shoot and provide footage of one of the fastest weddings ever recorded" according to The Spotted Eagle.

We'll have a closer look at their equipment used to shoot this mile high wedding in the sky.

Consistency With Photography Technique Is The Key

On the wedding day demands and time constraints are high, so being consistent with your photographic techniques is the key to successful wedding photography, according to Mike Upstaone at ephotozine.com.

wedding photography

Contrary to popular myth wedding photography is probably the most demanding discipline of all professional work. It is very easy to do badly. A top professional such as Nigel Harper can produce advertising quality; outdoors or indoors, with available light and flash, with groups and individuals, in a variety of styles, in all weather conditions under great pressure and all with an amateur cast.

Top wedding photographers have their technique down to such a fine art that fellow professionals frequently find it impossible to accept that their images were really produced on the day. Stable technique makes life easier and keeps the results consistent. Experienced photographers dont tend to shift from reflectors one minute to fill-in flash the next they can spend more time on the details not the basics.

The moral is to be consistent. In other words if you only concentrate on one technique outdoors and another one indoors, you will quickly be able to do both consistently well. This means the process becomes automatic and time can be spent on improving other areas such as posing, cropping and composition instead.
